Letter from the Editor

Why Consult England for Guidance as a Journalist?
By covering international issues, journalists have the opportunity to highlight underreported stories, expose corruption, and hold those in power accountable. Historically, England has wielded diplomatic influence and the ability to facilitate more effective communication, impacting individuals in America who may struggle with governance. For instance, notable figures such as Member of Parliament William Wilberforce and Queen Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz of Great Britain and Ireland were tireless advocates against the atrocities of chattel slavery and child exploitation, culminating in the passage of the Anti-Slavery Act in 1807. Where with King George III signed the Slave Trade Act in 1807, which abolished the slave trade in England and its territories. By ending the slave trade in Europe, England set a precedent of reform, contributing to the dismantling of slavery in America through the efforts of Methodist preacher John Wesley and leaders of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, including Bishop Richard Allen, Bishop William Paul Quinn, Bishop Daniel A. Payne, and Bishop Henry McNeal Turner, commonly referred to as "The Four Horsemen" among others. Notably, Quinn Chapel A.M.E. in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, named after Bishop William Paul Quinn,
stands as one of the oldest AME churches in New Jersey.

"In Concern of the Negro since 1904."
Dear Prince Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton, and Baron Kilkee and Royal Highness Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Countess of Dumbarton, and Baroness of Kilkee.
Greetings,

I am Miss Karen Brittingham-Edmond, the Editor and Publisher of the revived "Echo," New Jersey's oldest Black-owned newspaper. With a proud heritage of abolitionists, I am reaching out to seek your support for Americans suffering under billionaires and the Trump Administration, which endorses White supremacy and erodes African American rights. This administration, like the Confederates they idolize, violates the principle that all men are created equal. As an African American I can attest that our voting rights are threatened by a plan to replace Black citizens' votes with those of insourced workers, orchestrated by groups like Michael Bloomberg's New American Economy.
Prince Harry, please convey this message to King Charles III and Queen Camilla Ruffin-Bowles. England's history of opposing slavery & tyranny, exemplified by the Member of Parliament William Wilberforce and Queen Sophia Charlotte, inspires me to seek your counsel. The lack of transparency in American history has fostered distorted perspectives, benefiting those with racist ideologies. Since 1967, the Southern Evangelical Movement, now the Christian Coalition, which has controlled the Republican Party since 1980, has purposely and treasonously undermined Civil Rights achievements for Black citizens. This letter addresses 50 years of systematic discrimination and the Christian Coalition's failure to embody Christ's teachings. It is vital to protect Afro-American children's future from the rhetoric of White supremacy, fueled by wealth gained through slavery. As caring parents, we must stand against these injustices.
It is hoped that the King and Queen will deliver a message of compassion to the North American public, who are currently perplexed by the American Administration's perceived support for ideologies such as Nazism and White Supremacy. These ideologies are seen as a strategy to exploit taxpayer funds and overlook the reparations owed to African Americans. On a side note: Should reparations be granted to the direct descendants of African chattel slavery in North America, such rhetoric would likely diminish and lose acceptance, as the historical debt would be addressed. Rendering those who strive to hinder the success of all Black Americans powerless against their prejudiced and hateful gossip.
