Liberty or Project 2025 Your Choice

July 11, 2024

Update from The Democratic Party

Commentary from Dr. Joe

Unfortunately, we are at a crossroads in our nation. This is not a choice between two men. We, as a nation, have been lulled into believing that is the way politics works. In the past, we looked at the candidates and considered many things when making our decision on who to support. The 1960 campaign shed some light on appearance. There was a concerted effort among the Nixon allies to shield Nixon from appearing side by side with Kennedy. They fought vigorously to not have that debate televised. Before the 1960 campaign, we had Theodore Roosevelt. His allies tried to conceal his wheelchair. Yes, we Americans can be that shallow. We consider a person’s appearance, speech, and presentation more heavily than those attributes that matter. Those attributes include but are not limited to intellect, political savviness, geo-political knowledge, and global experience. Let us not forget, in this writer’s opinion, the most important criteria, agenda. In that spirit let us take a cursory view of the two agendas.

  • Inflation Reduction Act

  • Capped Insulin at $35 per month

  • Protecting Reproductive Rights

  •  Historic Climate Action

  • Rallying the World in Support of Ukraine

  • Protecting the Affordable Care Act

  • Criminal Justice Reform

  • Student Debt Relief

  • Increase in Pell Grant amounts

  •  $16 Billion for HBCU's

The other candidate will follow the below agenda:

  1.  He will reverse all or most of the policies that President Biden put in place and halt the positive progress that is currently taking place under Biden’s administration. In other words, he will erase the first part of this article.

  2. He will remove all undocumented immigrants in the most inhumane way because in his twisted mind they are all murderers, rapists, and drug dealers. Latinos should be aware because though there all immigrants that have blond hair and blue eyes, they are not the immigrants that are targeted. The Latino population and its families will be affected in the most devastating way.

  3. He is seeking to give police immunity and unleash them in urban areas. As urban areas are mostly comprised of minorities, they will be affected the most. In his own words, “He must protect suburban women from bad hombres.” While law enforcement has what is called qualified immunity, it does not extend to criminal acts. Qualified immunity protects police officers from being sued, but if they commit a crime they will be prosecuted. The suggested form of immunity will give law enforcement further latitude that could include crimes that may take place while on official duty. Under this form of immunity Derek Chauvin may have very well gotten away with George Floyd’s murder because it was committed while he was in an official act. This writer authored an article in the Echo Press and did a podcast on why I say sons and not so much our daughters. Please see those two pieces.

  4. This candidate will seek retribution for his political enemies and purge the federal government of bureaucratic disloyalty. .

  5. The Department of Education will be closed. Now, this is nothing new. This rhetoric is a crowd pleaser to republican crowds. But doing so erases billions of dollars that goes toward federal aid to college students, public schools that serve low income and special needs children. Other republican presidents tried but failed. This action would affect poor, underprivileged children across the country.

  6. Although the republicans tried to do away with the Affordable Care Act and failed, the second time around this proposed agenda may be successful. The American people will suffer tremendous harm.

  7. All LGBTQ rights will be rescinded.

  8. Abortion and reproduction rights will be erased.

  9. This candidate will withdraw from NATO which would have a devastating effect on our geopolitical landscape. Remember a necessary criterion is understanding geopolitical dynamics.

  10. The Equity Executive Order that required federal agencies to deliver equitable outcomes and training will be eliminated.

  11. Obama and Clinton appointed almost twice as many female judges as did this republican candidate.  84% of this candidate’s appointed judges when he was president were not minorities.  Of the twenty-three members of Biden’s Cabinet 13 were women and nine were minority. Of this candidate’s 23-member cabinet when he was president only 4 females and 3 minorities were appointed. Those numbers are glaring and staggering and tell a story.

This is not the time to consider those criteria that do not matter, but those things that can change a country for the worse.
