"Terrifying Moment: Child Trapped in Sand Collapse
at Sea Grit Beach
Per a report written by Carly Baldwin of the Long Branch Eatontown Patch on Feb 12, 2024, titled "Toddler, 2, Briefly Buried In Jersey Shore Sand Collapse," shared that while a family was visiting Sea Grit Beach, a two-year-old child was engulfed by the sand below the child's feet. At 11:22 A.M. Saturday, Feb 11, 2024.
The report shares that "the child's father quickly extricated him within two to three minutes" and saved his child's life. The question is, why have there been increased sand collapse occurrences on the East Coast throughout the years? Research has shown that sand collapses on the Jersey shoreline can occur due to various factors. Some possible reasons include natural erosion caused by storms and tides, human alterations to the beach, such as the construction of jetties or seawalls, or changes in the underlying geology of the area. It's important for beachgoers to be aware of the risks and to follow any posted warnings or safety guidelines to avoid potential hazards. The California Legislative Black Caucus Presented Their First Reparation Bill Proposition Feb 9, 2024.
The California Reparation Task Force disclosed its proposal to address reparations for Black citizens in California and the United States. The package was submitted for public review by LaNiece Jones, Staff Consultant at California Legislative Black Caucus and Managing Director of LAJones & Associates. A report shared by Phil Lewis of "What I'm Reading" shared "California Reparations (?)." Feb 9, 2024 https://www.whatimreading.net/
The proposed bills put forth by the California Reparation Task Force call for a formal apology from the governor and state legislature to address the history of anti-Black racism in California. They also propose financial aid for people in redlined communities to receive vocational training and seek to ban hair discrimination in California athletics, among other things. However, it's worth noting that the bill does not include cash payments. And further, on a controversial note, vocational training does not equate to a college degree. Hence, said proposal is already receiving pushback from the public.
The dumbing down of Black citizens has become intolerable plus old for many. The report mirrors the discussion of owed reparations to Black citizens. And the unusual occurrence of how, when it comes to a monetary disbursement to Black citizens, the debate gets lost in the sauce. Per some opinions, Black citizens are tired of believing that the country has no money to pay them the owed reparations. All at the same time, Black citizens have witnessed throughout the last 50 years of yearly disbursement of money plus additional services that quickly add up to trillions of dollars each year to be invested in anyone else but Black citizens. Like in times past, when owed reparations were stolen or, in the case of President Lincoln, cohered with death threats from racists and Confederates for the released reparations to previous slaveholders. But later, once President Lincoln became unintimidated by all the death threats and sought to release monetary reparations to newly Black citizens, he was murdered.
Thankfully, appendices can be made to the submitted article. To read the full reparations package proposal by the California Legislative Black Caucus Reparations Task Force, please click the link here:
U.S. Naval Weapons Station Earle Obtains Permanent Protection Of Wooded Areas From Colts Neck To Howell.
Per a report shared by Carly Baldwin of the Middletown Patch titled "255 Acres Bordering NWS Earle" on Feb 8, 2024. Shares how the "235-acre thoroughbred horse breeding and training farm in Colts Neck will be preserved as a public-private partnership between the U.S. Navy, Monmouth County and Monmouth Conversation Foundation." The area is one of the largest wooded areas in Monmouth County NJ. It historically connects to the time period of Mr. Peter Rock's land that stretched from Pine Brook, now referred to as Tinton Falls, to Scoobey-ville, now called Colts Neck. https://www.echonewstv.com/post/illegal-burial-service-trespasses-on-historic-black-1st-nation-burial-sites-in-tinton-falls-n-j As of today, the natural landscape is considered a "hardwood forest."
A mature hardwood forest is a forest dominated by large, mature trees with a closed canopy that shades the forest floor. Typically, these forests have a diverse mix of hardwood species, such as oak, hickory, maple, and beech, with occasional conifers mixed in. A mature hardwood forest generally has a complex structure with multiple layers of vegetation, from the tall canopy layer to the shrub layer and ground cover. This type of forest provides an essential habitat for a wide variety of wildlife and plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance.

Black History Moment Remembering Activist Josephine Wright
Photo Source Freshers Live Obituary Picturing Mrs. Josephine Wright
This week, the relaunched Echo remembers a matriarch from South Carolina who had an unyielding determination to protect her family's historically significant land from developers. Her efforts inspired celebrities and helped raise awareness about the Gullah Geechee people.
Her name was Josephine Wright of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
The Activist Josephine Wright
Surrounded by the serene beauty of her late husband's ancestral land on Hilton Head Island, ninety-four-year-old Josephine Wright only wanted to spend her days in peace. However, her tranquility was shattered when bulldozers began to encircle her property. Despite turning down an offer for her land years ago, Wright was served with a lawsuit last February (2023) when a developer claimed that part of her home was infringing on plans for a subdivision and sought damages. Wright shared her experience with the local media.
A passionate activist, Josephine Wright refused to stay silent and took legal action by hiring a civil rights lawyer after feeling outraged. The land has been in her family for generations since the Civil War, purchased by her ancestor, who was freed from slavery. Despite her height of under 5 feet, Wright stood up against developers to defend her family's property. The support for her cause increased when famous actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry took to social media to pledge his support, followed by donations from rapper Snoop Dogg and NBA star Kyrie Irving. Wright's message of resilience and determination spread worldwide.
Wright passed away on January 7, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and prayer.
